Hey Y'all!
Yesterday was my very first site visit, which unfortunately did not bear any fruit..because I didn't manage to arrive at the venue.
I did manage to get up at 5am and caught the express train heading to Paris. The original plan was to get off at Brussels, and hop on another train to Lille, France. My colleague joined me at Rotterdam, and she said, 'good the train is still going, they were saying on the announcement that there is a strike at Brussels now and I was worried that we couldn't make it anymore.'
We did not know we were on the very last train arriving at Brussels. It was a big strike day as railway staff protesting to austerity proposals in Eurozone. No train were going in or out anymore.
Yelling protesting people, whistle blowing, policemen, fire crackers, smoke..first time I became a victim of a strike of public transport employee! Despite hearing about it so many times ever since I moved to Europe.
We got stuck!
The completely empty arrival/departure board *lol*
We got bus tickets back to Amsterdam cuz further logistics became very unpredictable on a dramatic strike day. We had to wait for 3 hours before the bus was scheduled to leave, so we went to the shopping district and I had a Gaga moment :P
Conclusion? Not for me! I don't have enough attitudes for such shoes xD
The bus took 4.5 hours back to Amsterdam..Almost as bad as X5 from Cambridge to Oxford..now still very exhausted.
So much for my first business visit trip, hopefully next time I will be more lucky.
