So it has been a long time since my last blog post, and I would be lying to say my life has not been turned upside down ever since.
My last blog was after I took the hectic CFA Level 1 exam, and now the good news is: as of yesterday I was informed that I passed the CFA Level 2 exam, and with an exceptionally good mark indication as well!
I am not such a person to brag-but for once I cannot be more proud of myself. I have shown incredible discipline and diligence in the past year, because without these I could not have passed them. I remember the days when I arrived home around 6, finished cooking, eating, dishwashing by 8, started studying then, and went to bed around 11 or 12 . Such a life style for a whole year.
I remember doing 1000 exercise questions in a month, crying and struggling through those endless exercises, but eventually I tend to forget about all my tears and pain in the dark moment, and look at the bright side of things and move on.
My calendar year (from Sep-Jul) post grad school: passed two CFAs in a row, now officially more than halfway done, alongside my ever first full time job. Tick!
Post-exam life: focusing on my big life main course (more details later), and the side dish is to watch Downton Abbey. I absolutely love the show: put aside the plot/drama/love, it gave me a sense into the historical evolvement of a variety of things, such as estate management, the class system. It was not so glamorous to be a lawyer/accountant at one time! But how come surveyors are quite a ‘posh’ thing? Now I know.
Also the show reminded me of my scholarship- it was awarded by Duke of Westminster, like Lord Grantham sponsored Freddie to go to Ripon Grammar School . It was essentially the money from estate management, from the land. Well I mean if you own the West End in London it is far more lucrative than owning lands in Yorkshire . Like the husband of our principal once joked with me, don’t feel indebted to Grosvenor-for the Duke this is only coffee money. Nonetheless I am eternally grateful of course :)
Also Downton Abbey gave me a break from only US shows, the majority of which are NYC-based. I was constantly amazed by the talented British casts.
God said: Let there be light. And there was light. And God said, let there be actors. And there were the Brits.
